With a firm track and dry ball the 'Bridge backs, commanded from 13 by Rory Wallis back after a season of injury, were able to gallop in tries seemingly at ease.
This was possibly the most measured and controlled Edenbridge have played all season with the pack comfortable at the break down and levels of communication unheard of until now. Gareth Battle was solid under restart after restart and the back row forced turnovers at will. Dave Allwood performed admirably at second row, drafted in from the wing just before kickoff, proving himself a nuisance on the TJs lineout ball.
The opening try came within the first five minutes as Sam Perry capitalised from fullback on the fumbled balls of TJs back three. After that the five-pointers kept coming with Jamie Snelling going over for a brace, Bobby Weaver scoring from a close range dart and Dave Wallis also adding to the tally. Weaver kicked superbly landing all but one of his efforts.
The second half saw 5 changes to the Edenbridge line up. The oncoming drizzle and a doubling of effort by TJs to slow the ball at the breakdown saw the visitors come back in the second half answered only by a try from replacement scrum half Alex Skinner but they never looked like turning the result around as Edenbridge stepped off the gas. Final score 39-24 and a first half performance to carry into next year’s season.
